In this episode, we do a quick dive into the history of Jazz and its active dialogue with South Asia. We go into the early history of jazz with John Coltrane and analyze how South Asian philosophies impacted his style of modal. jazz. We then delve into Ornette Coleman and his work with Asha Puthli, the under appreciated South Asian jazz pop princess. We go into the spiritual connection as to why both Black Americans and South Asians seek out jazz, and how this divine sound keeps on going.
