Meeting the Mantis completely changes W5's perception. The Mantis tells her to return to the colony in order to accomplish something important. But when W5 arrives, the colony is overrun with attacking ants. X48 tells W5 to save the Queen. W5 embarks on the final phase of her journey. In the chaos, all expectations and prior laws are meaningless.

The worker known to the colony as W5311X44 has never been the same since she encountered sunlight. With the help of her closest sister and teammate, W5 makes it to the surface. Her life is instantly and forever changed. But it is only when W5 sets out to explore the surface that her true challenge begins. She must decide who she really is. W5 finds out what it's really like to be a Major. She discovers a strange operation carried out by ants high up in a tree. And W5 meets the Mantis, who speaks powerful words and influences the course of W5's very existence.

Ever since X48 shared her incredible secret mask workshop with W5, the ants have maintained a carefully orchestrated illusion of normalcy. For W5, the waiting has been nearly impossible. With a work assignment near the workshop's hidden entrance, the ants are finally able to execute their plan of getting W5 up to the surface. W5 knows that this quest puts both her life and X48's in danger, but both ants are fully committed. They narrowly avoid detection when a Major finds them in the process of entering the hidden tunnel entrance to the workshop. X48 smooths over the situation and W5 continues alone. She finds a newly finished mask made just for her in the workshop. Wearing the mask, W5 is transformed and has the confidence to crawl the rest of the way, up the hollow root, to the surface. There, she learns the source of the light that inspired her quest, and discovers that the surface world is full of unknown creatures and wonders.

W5 cannot forget the experience of the light. She can't sleep, and finds herself replaying the vision over and over in her mind. Her sister worker and close friend X48 takes a leap and shares with W5 the location of her secret work space in a hollowed out tree root where she builds masks that perfectly mimic an ant's head. Going against every rule of the colony, W5 and X48 make a plan to sneak away and explore the surface.

The world of ants is strict and rigid. There is one purpose: preparing for the Emergence. Inside the colony, minor workers like W5 spend countless hours tunneling and taking care of the precious larvae, the Queen's offspring. There is neither day nor night.

When W5 sees the brilliant light of the sun shining through the top of a ventilation tunnel, her desire to work on the surface becomes unbearable. In this moment of desperation, her close friend X44 tells her a secret that will change her life forever.

This episode of Sound Tales begins aboard the ocean freight ship. As Groat the Toad warned them, the world of humans is unforgiving. Soon, the frogs are in a most desperate predicament, but in a surprise twist of fate, two human children save the amphibians and guide them off the ship and in the direction of the deep rainforest. There, Sachi seeks reunion with his family. Billy and Sachi learn even more details about humans and form new relationships with a surprising cast of characters.

With Old Frog's map as their guide, Billy the Bullfrog and Sachi the Tree Frog set off on their journey to the Great City on the Ocean. They arrive at the Reservoir, a gigantic pond 1000 times bigger than Billy's own. To cross the water, they enlist the aid of Pogo the Raven. River rapids, aggressive toads and many other challenges face Billy and Sachi on their journey. Will they find the metal fish of which Old Frog spoke? Will they really ride inside it's belly? Sachi meets Billy's family. They suggest asking Old Frog, the wisest frog on the pond, for help in Sachi's quest to get home to the rainforest. Old Frog agrees to provide a map showing the way to the Great City on the Ocean in exchange for a piece of pink glass. Billy and Sachi search the canal for pink glass and come face to face with Grace, the hunter cat.

A frightening storm blows Sachi, a red eyed tree frog, far away from the rainforest. He wakes up in a strange place where he meets a bullfrog named Billy. Sachi realizes he has no idea how to get home. The two frogs decide to trust each other.
