"I started off with a grandiose scheme to produce a homage to 'Musique Concrète', the birthplace of which was Paris. I'd also found a PD recording (1922) of "Under The Bridges Of Paris" by the so-called "Queen of the Whistlers", Margaret McKee, which I decided to sample. After several weeks work, I wasn't happy with where this was going, so, with just a few days to go to the deadline I junked almost everything and started again! The marvellous Margaret survived the cull, while the rest of the piece now comprises nothing but the original field recording and re-workings thereof. The spirit of 'MC' is still in there somewhere..."
