South African children lagging in early education

The Thrive by Five Index has revealed that South Africa’s youngest learners are falling behind before they even reach Grade R. The survey which is conducted every three years has assessed 5-thousand children across 1388 Early Learning Programmes in all nine provinces also revealed that too many young children start school without the skills needed to succeed.
