Southern California Weather March 5 Evening - 47° Above Normal

Listen Later

Good evening. Southern California. I'm Aaron Jolly.
You might want to hold onto your hat. Literally. A High Wind Warning is in effect until 9 A.M. For the Santa Monica Mountains and the Malibu Coast, where gusts could hit 60 miles an hour. If you're driving the PCH this morning, keep both hands on the wheel.
In the next 24 hours. Right now we're sitting at 58 degrees under gray skies. The overnight low barely budged — it only dropped to 57. That's remarkably mild for early March.
Here's how the day unfolds.
In Greater Los Angeles, patchy fog lingers until about 10 A.M. Then the sun punches through. You climb from 49 degrees early to 75 degrees by early afternoon. Tonight stays clear with a low near 50.
Down in San Diego County, expect mostly sunny skies after the morning clouds clear. Highs reach 71 degrees. North winds gust to 30 miles an hour this afternoon. Tonight brings clear skies and a low near 49.
Over in the Inland Empire, watch for patchy blowing dust between 7 A.M. and 4 P.M. North winds gust to 40 miles an hour. Despite the wind, temperatures hit 73 degrees under sunny skies. Tonight drops to 47.
Looking ahead, we're in for a serious warm-up. Saturday reaches 80 degrees in LA. Sunday could hit 87 — that's about 47 degrees above normal for early March. Things cool slightly Monday and Tuesday, but we stay in the 70s.
By the way, tonight's full moon rises at sunset. With clearing skies, it should be a beautiful one. We're also gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now — the spring equinox is just two weeks away.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
