God's sovereignty to raise up kings and remove them from kingship is powerfully put on display in this account. In a single night "the writing is on the wall" and the great Babylonian empire falls to the Medes and the Persians. Belshazzar has been found wanting and has failed to honor the Most High God. Ultimately, Babylon stands for a world order that is in opposition to God and in the end it will not stand against the purposes and will of our sovereign God. Would we be those whose allegiance is with the King of Kings!
