Sovereignty is Remembered, not Discovered

Listen Later

Dear Empowered Wayers:

In my legal career and later in my coaching business, I noticed a common thread in the women I encountered. They tended to look outward for answers, ready to step in and help or give comfort. The end result was to lose their sense of self and wonder what happened to the “real me”?

I fell into this trap more times than I can count, until I stepped back and saw the process. When I was in the moment, I couldn’t see it. Only when I became an observer of my behavior could I actually see.

I lived too many years being an amnesiac - spiritually. I was blind to my pure essence, my beingness, because I believed it was defined by my doingness.

It wasn’t until I began exploring the idea of sovereignty that it made sense. We talk about countries invading the sovereignty of another, but we never acknowledge the invasion of our personal sovereignty by outside influences. Women are especially vulnerable to these outside forces, because of the culture we live in.

Today, as you read the following, know I am weaving a blanket of words for you to wrap around your shoulders like a loving hug. Breathe intentionally as you read or listen, and allow the energy behind the words to move deeper, past your logical mind to that mystical place waiting inside.

It’s Time to Remember

There is a wild wisdom that lives in your bones. It is older than the stories told about you, deeper than the roles you've been asked to play, more profound than the limitations others have tried to inscribe on your spirit. This is sovereignty—not as a distant concept, but as a living, breathing remembrance of who you truly are.

Sovereignty is not something granted. It is something remembered.

Imagine your essence as an ancient landscape—a terrain of mountains, forests, and rivers that have witnessed centuries of change yet remain fundamentally unbroken. You are not a fragile construct to be shaped by external winds, but a sovereign territory of infinite depth and resilience.

Close your eyes. Feel the ground beneath you. This is your first kingdom—your body, your presence, your inalienable domain. Here, you are both the queen and the entire realm. Your breath is the wind that moves through your internal forests. Your heartbeat is the rhythm of your own sacred law.

The world will offer you countless scripts—narratives of smallness, of compromise, of fitting into predetermined spaces. Sovereignty whispers something different. It says: You are not here to adjust. You are here to remember.

What is Sovereignty?

Remember the women who came before you. Not just your bloodline, but the collective lineage of women who have always known—deep in their marrow—that their worth is not negotiable. Your sovereignty is an inheritance, a birthright that cannot be taken, only momentarily forgotten.

Your intuition is your most powerful sovereign tool. It is not a gentle suggestion, but a profound navigation system. When the external noise becomes overwhelming, return to this internal compass. Trust the wisdom that rises from your depths, not the voices that echo from the surface.

Sovereignty is not about perfection. It is about presence. It is about choosing yourself, again and again. Some days, this will look like fierce determination. Other days, it will look like gentle surrender. Both are acts of profound self-love.

Look at your hands. They are not just appendages, but instruments of creation, of healing, of drawing boundaries. They have the power to hold, to release, to craft entire worlds. Your touch carries the memory of generations—of survival, of tenderness, of unbreakable spirit.

In a world that profits from your self-doubt, sovereignty is a revolutionary act. It means understanding that your worth is not measured by external validation, but by the depth of your own self-recognition. You do not need to prove yourself. You simply need to remember yourself.

Your body is not a battlefield to be conquered, but a sacred temple to be honored. Every scar tells a story of survival. Every curve holds a narrative of resilience. Your flesh is not just skin and bone, but a living archive of your journey.

Sovereignty asks you to reclaim your right to complexity. You are not meant to be understood in a single glance, categorized in a simple box. You are a multilayered universe—wild, nuanced, continuously unfolding.

Breathe into the spaces within you that have been silenced. Those quiet corners hold your most powerful magic. Your sensitivity is not weakness, but a profound strength. Your emotions are not turbulence to be controlled, but rivers of wisdom to be listened to.

You are not here to be small. You are not here to make others comfortable. You are here to be fully, gloriously, unapologetically yourself.

Sovereignty is remembrance. It is the moment you look in the mirror and recognize not just your reflection, but the infinite potential that resides within you. It is understanding that your presence is a gift to the world—not because of what you do, but because of who you are.

You are your own permission. You are your own liberation.

Remember.

Many blessings,

Kathryn
