Part 3: Sovilla had been about to walk out on her husband because of communication conflicts and Lucinda would clash with her husband because she felt her freedom was being infringed upon. Both sisters’ lives changed drastically when they did The Grief Recovery Method, a non-sectarian, practical process to heal from a broken heart caused by any kind of loss (physical, emotional, psychological, etc.). This method was extremely painful work but the rewards were well worth it, including building a self-confidence and self-love within Sovi that she had never had before.

Luci describes her Amish father invading their sexual space as teens and punishing them during their periods for being females.

The sisters also answer Torah’s set of questions that she asks every guest on Season 1:

What were some of the challenges you faced navigating a foreign culture?

What is your guiding principal in life?

What is your understanding of forgiveness?

What is your definition of acceptance?

Why do bad things happen to good people?

IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN:

- Why Sovilla had to read the English-language Bible at night with a flashlight

- How Lucinda was finally able to stand up to her father and make him stop beating her

- How the sisters’ father violated their privacy and sexual space (e.g. removing the bathroom door and sitting on their bed in the morning staring at their uncovered bodies)

- The lack of sex education was so severe that the sisters didn’t even know what their period was
