Soylent is named after the old school movie called, "Soylent Green." If you don't remember that movie, the post-apocalyptic drama is set in the near future and the human population has gotten so far out of control we're having a hard time feeding ourselves. So, we eat humans once we have turned their remains into a smoothie.
