This third public discussion based on APG’s discursive format The Sculpture considers the Group’s complex relationship to sculptural practice. From its earliest placements, APG attracted renowned sculptors such as Garth Evans, Barry Flanagan, David Hall and John Latham. The discussion – with Penelope Curtis, Jo Melvin and Barbara Steveni – will address some of the apparent contradictions between APG’s ‘incidental’, non-object approach and the fact that it played host to some of the most progressive sculptors of the day.
