Christopher Nolan’s new film Interstellar has raised many ideas around space travel, our place in the Universe, the practical effects of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and the dangers of black holes. Steve and Ben examine the topics of space exploration, black holes, relativity and Interstellar in the broader context of what we can realistically expect when we eventually head out in to the Universe. They also look at the landing of the Philae probe on a comet, the first time this has been done in human history, Google’s leasing of a NASA airbase for space exploration, and Brian Cox’s claim that we are alone.
