Another top quality short story

James Johnson has so far proved to me that heâs an author to keep an eye on â I say this as I simply havenât come across a single one of his works that hasnât kept me entertained in its entirety.

âThe Painterlyâ still stands as my favorite short story by this author, but Iâd have to say that âSpace Toyâ comes in as a close second and I personally find it refreshing to see that the author isnât afraid to experiment with his stories and try out very differing kinds of plots. I also think that Kyle suits the story very well and Iâm assuming this story was written later than the others Iâve come across, as I feel that the character development is stronger here and, to put it briefly, he seems a lot more fluid three-dimensional compared to the other characters.

If youâre looking for short reads that pack a punch, then I highly recommend checking out âSpace Toyâ, among his other works.

Interesting Quick Read!

Space Toy by James Johnson is a wonderful quick read that I enjoyed in my leisure time and I must say that this gripped my mind thoroughly entertaining me. The main character is Kyle. Kyle struggles with the balance of his life. At the shop boss assigns Kyle on a new task and beginning the inspections he unscrews a panel underneath the a rocket. Underneath he sees something that he has not seen before and it consists of wired looking drawings. He is taken in to a strange world and the story gets more interesting as it flows. I enjoyed this well. I highly recommend this for children.

A Fun and Nostalgic Read!

I believe James Johnson has stellar potential in the field of writing and story telling. While reading his latest, Space Toy, I reflected on my own youth and sense of imagination. Johnson really struck the nail on the proverbial head in the detail and ability to create the world Kyle found himself in. I truly believed that a grown man would have had the reactions Kyle had upon encountering this peculiar toy vehicle then being transported to a land of breathtaking difference. The dialogue felt quite fluid and natural. The conversations between David and Kyle to even Kyle's inner thoughts read believable. The best thing I liked about this piece was the nostalgia it brought. Describing vintage toys to recalling the soon to be extinct arcades brought a smile to my face. Even the idea of the space toy itself made me think of the Penny Horse rides you would find at the Meijers supermarket back home. I hope Mr. Johnson can expand his potential and soon his lengthier works at local bookstore shelves.

A unique, fun read everyone can enjoy

There is quite an adventure packed into this little short story and I think anyone can enjoy it. Essentially a repair shop accepts a unique item, you guessed it a space toy, and the story takes off from there. Don't let that simple overview deter you though, this circumstance turns into a great story. If your looking for a quick enjoyable read, look no further.

Great characters, plenty of action, and a very unique premise make this easy to recommend.
