Rick Wren’s style was molded by the music he heard in his youth on the East Coast and in the clubs of Philadelphia and New York City. After moving to Los Angeles in 2003 his tastes were expanded and further refined, rounding out his already eclectic sound. Classic funk & soul, hip-hop, house, disco, boogie, global obscurities, and the most current cutting-edge tracks can all be found in his extensive and ever-expanding record collection.
He has had the honor of sharing the bill with such talents as Rich Medina, Woolfy (DFA), Dâm Funk & Peanut Butter Wolf (Stones Throw), Marques Wyatt (Om, Deep), Jeremy Sole (KCRW), Trus’me (Prime Numbers UK), Lovefingers (ESP, Blackdisco), Greg Wilson (UK), Kon (BBE, Kon & Amir), Rahaan (Chicago), Marcel Vogel (Lumberjacks in Hell, Amsterdam), Jacques Renault (Let’s Play House, DFA), Shuggie Otis, Bernie Worrell, The Blackbyrds, and many more.
Rick is available for booking for all occasions. He can rock a dance floor until the break of dawn but is just as comfortable creating a one-of-a-kind soundscape for art, fashion, and corporate events.
