Spanish Rueda & Ribera del Duero Wines Ambassador Charles Ford Talks Spain

Listen Later

When Charles Ford talks about Spain, he lights up when we get to Rueda and Ribera del Duero. He now serves as the US Ambassador to the regions and shares stories on this week’s show. Hear about the area, the varietials and the experimentation going on today. Ford is the source for the most up-to-date information on the two Spanish regions.
Get a virtual taste of four wines Ford selects:
Rueda Verdejo
2013 Bodegas Naia “Naia” Verdejo– Stainless steel fermented, this fresh, pure and almost tropical white is a true representation of the area. It’s clean and crisp, an easy wine on a hot summer day.
2013 Bodegas Naia “Naiades” Verdejo. This version is aged in barrel, bringing out more of the tropical components in the Verdejo grape.
Ribera del Duero Reds
2013 Antidoto Soria Ribera Del Duero DO This fresh red wine is a crowd pleaser, full of ripe fruit and moderate acidity.
2010 Vega Sicilia Valbuena, Ribera del Duero This wine is deep, rich, sophisticated…need we say more? It’s a beauty and iconic in this region.
He recently returned from travel to the region and looks forward to returning. And in case you missed the last few shows with Ford, you can find them here:
