I’m speaking of collaborations with Trillxoe - the king of collaborations in Afrobeats.

Trill does many things,

He’s a producer, No 1 music producer (He produced the hit single Declan rice).

He’s an Artist, a singer, a songwriter.

Co-founder and member of the 44db sound collective, and A&R for native records.

In this episode, we talk about going from his childhood dreams of being a pilot, to becoming a multi talented creative.

How he performs the balancing act of producing for other artists whilst being an artist himself.

How he gets artists to bring their best to collaborations., the current state of Afrobeats music,

Then we shared some fun Afrobeats music collaborations we would like to see.

To round up this episode, we played “Guess the song”.

A game I created for SOA’s launch party that happened earlier this year.

This game was a hit at the launch party, so I brought it in for this episode.

Johnson IP - another member and Co-founder of the 44DB collective was with us behind the scenes

so we played Team vs Team.

Team 44DB (Trill and Johnson IP) vs Team SOA (myself and a friend)

They put up a good fight, but they were no match for Team SOA.

Trill did everything he could, but Johnson…. Let’s just say Johnson left him in the desert with no water.

On this episode of the Speaking of Afrobeats Podcast, I was both the host and the audience.

Learning about Alté music from my friend Oma Bear. An amazing source of knowledge on the Alté culture.

"Alté is Nigerian lingo for 'alternative,' underpinned by a freedom of expression through any medium,"

Alté music is a genre I would describe as Afrobeats’ younger sibling.

Like Beyonce and Solangé.

Afrobeats is Beyoncé, the mainstream pop genre loved by everyone.

Alté is Solangé; creative and entertaining, with its own unique energy.

In this episode, we talked about the emergence of Alté music. Sparked by Teezee, FreshL, and Boj, members of DRB Lasgidi collective.

Artists who consciously deviated from the norm, creating a sonic shift in music that can be heard in mainstream Afrobeats today.

We discuss the current state of the Alté culture rounding up with our hopes for the future of Alté music.

Alté music offers listeners freedom from the music status quo. It’s music for cool people.

We’re here with another exciting episode this week with the amazing Afro-fusion rapper, singer, songwriter Bobby Blane aka Bobby the conqueror.

He started off rapping and now found his place with what he describes as an Afro-trap soul merge sound that we really love.

We talk about tracks from his EP OAK (one of a kind) and the creative process behind some of our favourite tracks like Company and Baller, and we get him to answer wildcard questions.

Bobby’s sound is refreshing and we can’t wait to see what he does with it.
