Uganda’s budding democracy wil celebrate 30 years of the 1995 constitution this year.
Under the 1995 constitution, Uganda has robustly grown its democratic credentials creating a bill of rights, representation for women, the rule of law and separation of powers.
However, subsequent electoral periods have proven a challenge with increased political competition leading to clampdowns and declining civil and political rights.
