Daniel Jean says both the RCMP and CSIS said Atwal was no longer considered a threat. (This is highly questionable). This means they knew he was going to be there and had at least assessed him as a previous threat. This by itself suggests political pressure. Atwal was a member of a listed terrorist group, he tried to assassinate an Indian Cabinet Minister, he tried to beat Ujjal Dosanjh to death and he was convicted of fraud in 2010. Yet we are supposed to believe that the RCMP and CSIS both concluded this guy was neither a direct physical threat to anyone nor was he a larger threat to the national security interests of Canada
