Folks, grab your coffee and listen up. That little dusting overnight left a nasty calling card. Freezing fog and melting snow have glazed untreated surfaces. Take it slow through 9 A.M. Your brakes will thank you.

Now the real headline. Today feels like two completely different days stitched together. This afternoon? Gorgeous. Mostly sunny. The whole state lands right around 37 degrees. Enjoy every second of that sunshine.. Because tonight the trapdoor opens. We're talking a 25 degrees temperature plunge. Eastern Massachusetts crashes to 10 degrees overnight. Worcester and the Berkshires? Down to 7. Wind chills scraping 8 degrees by dawn. That's the kind of cold that stings your lungs on the first breath.

Friday morning will bite, but the sun fights back. Highs climb to the upper 30s statewide. Saturday is the real gem. Eastern Mass pushes 46 degrees. Drive out toward Springfield and you'll see 48. Nearly 10 degrees above normal for late February. Perfect for a long walk through the Common.

Then winter reminds us who's boss. A cold front barrels through Sunday morning dragging snow showers behind it. Monday's highs barely crack the mid 20s. Sunday and Monday nights? Single digits everywhere. Arctic air, no apologies.

Looking further out, Tuesday and Wednesday stay unsettled with a couple more snow chances. But temperatures gradually thaw back toward 40 degrees. The pattern is classic late winter.. Punching between warmth and cold like a boxer who can't decide which hand to throw.

One bright spot to carry with you. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:26, sunset at 5:31. Spring equinox is just three weeks out.

Tonight's cold is no joke. Charge your phone, let that faucet drip. And throw an extra blanket on the bed.
