Remembering you Nanna (Christine Ertmanis)

Before my grandmother passed away, I travelled from Spain to Canada to see her. I didn’t know then that it would be one of our final moments together. Before I left, she gave me some of her personal possessions. One of them was a poem she had written herself, called “I’m Spending Christmas With Jesus Christ This Year.”

It wasn’t just words on paper. It was her faith, her peace, and her way of preparing me for what was to come. After she passed, those words stayed with me. Especially at Christmas.

One Year later, I turned her poem into a song so her voice could live on, not just on a page, but in music. This song is my way of carrying her forward. It is grief, love, faith, and memory all breathing together.

This song is for anyone who has lost someone they love.
