Parents are often told that “love” can be spelled t-i-m-e. Spending quality time with someone is definitely a way of showing love.  Throughout the more than fifty years Pat and I have been married, I’ve been away from her for a huge proportion of that time.  Traveling all over the world to hold evangelistic campaigns has taken me away from home for weeks at a time.  So the days I can spend with Pat become more important.  We make time to go to the beach for a couple of days, or just go out for dinner.  When our sons were younger, I would take them, one at a time, for a walk when we could talk about the important issues of life.  I tried to make the most of the time I had at home.

Can we apply this to loving our neighbor?  Sure!  Spending quality time with someone, no matter who they are, will certainly signal that you care about them and want to get to know them.  Perhaps you have a friend who is an avid fisherman.  Then go fishing with them.  Does your co-worker love music?  Go to a concert together.  Is your neighbor a keen outdoor person?  Take a hike together. 

There are many ways to spend time with someone you care about, and as you do, pray that God will give you an opportunity to share the fact that God loves them and wants them to know Him too through His Son, Jesus Christ.
