For at least the last decade or so, August 1 has been considered Spider-Man Day, a celebration of Spider-Man and all the wonderful stories his character has brought to readers, audiences, and consumers all over the world! But why was the month of August chosen for this celebration, and when did these celebrations, now fairly popular on social media, really first start? Your intrepid arachnobrarian did a little digging to bring you some perspective on how this joyous holiday came to be in its present form. He'll also share some of his observations about Spider-Man's creation, cultural impact, and how he and others plan to celebrate this most amazing of unofficial holidays!
