Stan Lee created the character after looking at a fly - in 1961 Stan Lee created The Fantastic Four. He spent the next year trying to find the next big thing; 1961 final issue of Amazing Fantasy introduced the character; 1963 got The Amazing Spider-Man #1

Peter Parker was the second Spider-Man - Journey into Mystery #73 (1950’s) featured a Man-Spider that died by the end of the issue.

He has died 3 times - 2005 “The Other” story the villain Morlun beats him senseless, Spidy defeats him but dies from his injuries

2011 in Ultimate Spider-Man #160 Spider-Man is killed by The Green Goblin and replaced by Miles Morales

2012 Amazing Spider-Man #700 He dies fighting Doc Ock

Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlie Sheen, and Jake Gyllenhaal were almost Spider-Man
