Becoming Her

Spiritual Bruising + Coming Home to Yourself - Episode 19

Listen Later

Welcome back to Becoming Her. In this deeply personal and tender episode, Jeanetta Bodie opens the door to a vulnerable conversation on spiritual bruising—the kind of invisible wounds that don’t show up in scans or journals, but shape how we move through the world.

This is the beginning of a new series exploring spiritual trauma and the slow, embodied return to truth, breath, and dignity. Jeanetta shares a story that starts with a mountain bike fall, childhood memories of freedom, and the quiet realization that she’s been bracing for impact—on the trail and in life—for a long time.

We explore the five koshas (layers of self) and what it means to truly integrate spiritual healing into the body—not just through movement or therapy, but through naming what hurts and letting it move. Jeanetta speaks candidly about her shifting relationship with God, church, and religion, and how she’s learning to trust her intuitive and spiritual bodies again.

This episode is a call to soften, to witness, and to begin—gently—telling the truth about your own spiritual wounds.

In This Episode:

• What spiritual bruising is and how it shows up in the body

• The five koshas and why whole-person healing must include the spiritual body

• Jeanetta’s reflections on childhood, freedom, and a return to inner knowing

• The difference between spirituality and religion—and how both can shape our wounds

• Why healing doesn’t follow a content calendar (and that’s okay)

• The importance of dignity, not perfection, on the path back to self

• An invitation to name your own spiritual story, without shame or urgency
