We believe that the Holy Spirit distributes, as He wills, gifts of speech and service devoted to the common good and the building of the Church. Further, we believe that these gifts are to be exercised under the authority of Jesus Christ. This means that the believer is to seek as evidence of the Holy Spirit's fullness, not the gifts themselves, but the giver, who is Christ. Therefore, the gifts of the Spirit are to be accompanied by the fruit of the Spirit. The life of the Spirit, as displayed in the life of a believer, is characterized by the pure love of Jesus.
