Spiritual Practices Pt.2

Listen Later

Spiritual practices are essential in our spiritual formation. They help us make space for God to transform us and live like Jesus.

In this message, we explore what spiritual practices truly are—and what they are not. They are not empty routines, not legalistic checklists, and not something we accomplish in our own power.

Instead, they are patterns modeled by Jesus that shape our hearts and align our lives with His.

YouTube Description

In this teaching on Practices of Spiritual Formation, we learn that spiritual growth does not happen accidentally. It happens when we intentionally create space for God to work in us.

Scripture reminds us that in Christ we are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that the Spirit renews our thoughts and attitudes (Ephesians 4:23–24).

But spiritual practices are often misunderstood. This message clarifies three important truths:

• They are not just habits for the sake of habit.

• They are not legalistic checklists.

• They are not done in our own strength.

Instead, spiritual practices are ways we participate in the life Jesus modeled. When rooted in love (1 Corinthians 13:1), they shape how we live outwardly through generosity, service, witness, and community.

We explore practical expressions of faith such as:

• Generosity — giving freely and reflecting God’s heart (Matthew 10:42)

• Service — showing the life and love of Jesus through action

• Witness — declaring the praises of the One who called us out of darkness (1 Peter 2:9)

• Community — growing together in shared faith and purpose

The goal is simple:

Make space for God to transform us and live like Jesus.

Join us as we continue learning how intentional practices shape us into people who reflect Christ in everyday life.
