Episode 3 titled “Spirituality is not an aesthetic” dives into some of the ways that we have been taught to conceptualize spirituality, religion, and healing. Instead of learning how to let our spirit guide us to create a reality that is in alignment with our truest selves and in harmony with nature. We have been taught that our spiritual lives are an extension of us that is separate from our everyday. It is much easier to intellectualize spirituality, religion, and healing, but practicing requires a lot of humility and preparation that we are not typically taught to navigate. A lot of the things that we are deeply craving and in need of as a society cannot be bought. We only have so long before we realize that continuing to build an industrial, individualistic, and capitalist society is only driving us further away from our humanity. It is only a matter of time before we will be forced to recognize our true nature and return to it. Not only is our current society unsustainable for the earth, it is unsustainable for our souls.
