It has been a while since I have touched on the importance of kids being able to see characters that relate to them in media. The stereotypical portrayals of African American or any ethnic group but to see the main character going through many of the issues many young kids go through but aren’t highly publicized. I don’t want to spoil the film but to see the influences different adults can have on a young person’s development. This becomes more than a basic superhero origin story but a combination of that and a coming of age and into his own story. This is a different and refreshing take on Spider-man and incorporates many of the elements from different incantations of the Spider-man history and lore from over the years.
