Most people are familiar with the term mentor, but do you know what it means to have a sponsor?  A mentor may show you the ropes and perhaps serve as a coach but a sponsor acts as an advocate to help you achieve specific career goals. A sponsor makes connections and promotes visibility to leaders and others.
