Spousal Love - What Separates You?

We are not meant to live in isolation.

God created us to interact with the world around us. We are meant to form relationships throughout our lives that allow us to lessen our burdens, multiply our joys, and share the good news of Jesus Christ. When we live in isolation, cutting ourselves off from others, we also distance ourselves from God.

In the book of Genesis, God gave humans responsibility for all living things on earth. This created many mutually beneficial relationships that still exist today. Ask anyone who cares for a pet and receives unconditional love in return.

Yet the relationships that provide us with the best opportunities for growth are the ones we have with one another. From random encounters lasting a few moments to life-long partnerships, we all need other people in our lives. We cannot make it in this world alone.

Our relationships allow us live out our faith, to “see the face of Christ” in others. In turn, we will “be the face of Christ” for someone else. This is not always easy, especially when the bond is long-term. We must not become complacent in these relationships. As with new encounters, we need to make an effort to be caring, attentive, compassionate, encouraging, and respectful.

Today, Jesus continues His journey in Mark's Gospel.  He has already told His disciples about the cross, children, today is about marriage, and next week about money.  Preparing them for their tribulation.
