Fishing Report for Lake Fork, Texas
April 9, 2025

Today has been a fantastic day on the water at Lake Fork, with anglers reporting solid catches and ideal spring conditions. The weather is partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from the low 60s in the morning to the mid-70s by afternoon. Winds are light, and the water temperature is holding steady around 62 degrees—a prime range for pre-spawn and spawning activity. Sunrise was at 6:57 AM, and sunset will be at 7:50 PM, offering plenty of daylight for fishing.

**Fish Activity and Recent Catches**
Largemouth bass are highly active as they transition to shallow areas for spawning. Smaller males are already on beds in sunny spots along warm, wind-protected banks, while larger females are staging nearby. Crappie fishing is excellent, with many anglers finding big, keeper-sized fish near standing timber in 6–20 feet of water and close to bridges. Best results are coming in areas where surface temperatures reach 62–64 degrees. Other species like channel catfish and white bass are also biting well, providing variety for anglers.

**Best Lures and Baits**
For largemouth bass, try Texas rigs, chatterbaits, and wacky-rigged senkos in shallow water (1–3 feet). In deeper staging areas, use lipless crankbaits or jerkbaits in colors like red, chrome, or crawfish patterns. Crappie anglers are having success with live minnows, hand-tied jigs, and soft plastics. If targeting catfish, stick with stinkbait or live bait in deeper water.

**Hot Spots**
- **Birch Creek Area**: This location offers outstanding opportunities for bass during the spawn. Fish the extended points and drop-offs in 10–16 feet of water with Carolina rigs or spinnerbaits. Duck Call Cove, nearby, is also a sheltered spot with lots of structure, making it perfect for both bass and crappie.
- **Highway 515 Bridge**: Crappie are congregating here. Focus on fishing directly underneath the bridge or along nearby timber with live bait or small jigs.

**Tidal and Lake Conditions**
Although tidal influences are not a factor in Lake Fork, the water level is slightly below full pool, approximately 0.15 feet lower than normal. The clarity remains stained, an advantage for anglers as it often encourages fish to hold tighter to cover.

Today’s fishing is shaping up as one of the best for spring action. Whether you’re targeting trophy largemouth, big crappie, or a mixed bag, Lake Fork is firing on all cylinders. Don’t forget, areas along points and shallow timber are seeing most of the action, so focus there for the best results!
