This episode we dive into the time honored tradition of the Spur Ride and how CSM Brian Robert from 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment organized a memorable experience for his soldiers as they went down to Camp Rilea Oregon to join the Order of the Spur. 

Joining him today is Pfc Joshua Nugent who earned his spurs at Camp Rilea. Nugent discusses his mindset as he and his squad were pushed mentally and physically on the beaches of Oregon.

The tradition of earning your spurs was introduced during the formation of the American Cavalry. New troopers were given extra space to ride and training spurs so as not to cause accidents in formations. Only when these troopers were able to prove their ability to perform with their horse and saber were they awarded their real spurs.
