Vernon is a professional Square Dance caller. He started calling in 1978. He calls SSD, Mainstream, Plus, and Advanced. He also does easy Line Dances and Cues easy Round Dances.

He belongs to several callers associations. CALLERLAB, the International Square Dance Callers Association. For this association he is a past Chair of The Board. He has also served on the Executive Committee and is currently serving on The Board Of Governors.

Through CALLERLAB he is licensed to perform copyrighted music.

He also belongs to the North Texas Callers Association serving this organization in many positions including President.

He belongs to the Texas State Callers Association also serving this organization in several capacities including President.

In 2011 he was elected to the Texas Callers Hall Of Fame.

Vernon conducts many Square Dance Parties for corporations, family reunions, wedding receptions and many other different functions.
