St Albert Chmielowski was born in Igolomia, Poland in 1845. He was known as a Polish religious brother and founder of the Albertines. Albert is also known as Brat Albert (Brother Albert); in recognition of his holiness he has also been called the “Brother of Our Lord”, “Brother of Our God”, and “Our God’s Brother”. Albert died in 1916 and was canonised by St John Paul II in 1989.
