St Basil's aged care facility in Fawkner has pleaded guilty to failing to properly train staff during the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak that killed 45 residents, making it Melbourne's deadliest outbreak. WorkSafe dropped eight other charges, with the provider accepting only the staff training failure charge. A class action with more than 100 complainants claiming serious psychological harm will now proceed, with sentencing scheduled for next week.
