By Father Perry D. Leiker, pastor
"Would God blaze up in anger and destroy his own people? Us? Me?" Father Perry asks us for the 17th episode of our Lenten podcast. "I think you have to finally at some point make your claim. What is it that you're going to believe. For me, it's not in a wrathful God. But I get the language. We do it. We do it, parents do it. How many priests have gotten up and spouted off the negative and condemning language? But don't parents do it? You better clean up your room! Why would we say stuff like that? To scare them. To frighten them into action. People do it to get something done. But would it not be nicer, better, if we got people to do things out of love rather than out of fear?"
