The FDA and St. James Smokehouse have recalled 93 cases of St. James Smokehouse brand, Scotch Reserve Scottish Smoked Salmon, 4oz Packages lot# 123172.  These fish are contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.  This bacterium causes a severe and sometimes fatal systemic infection in the very young, older frail individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.  Listeria can also trigger miscarriages and stillbirths.  These fish were sold at various retailers in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Washington State, Virginia, and Wisconsin as well as at Safeway stores in Washington State.  Don't consume this product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.   For more information, contact St. James Smokehouse by phone at 1-305-461-0231.
