St John Vianney
St John Vianney was born on the 8 May 1786 in Dardilly, France. He is well known for living out his priestly vocation. He was sent to be the Parish Priest of Ars where he stayed for 40 years.
John spent most of his life devoting himself to visiting his parishioners, praying before the Blessed Sacrament, doing penance for his parishioners, and leading his people by example. As a confessor he would spend 11-12 hours a day in the winter and 16 hours in the summer reconciling people back to God. St John Vianney died on the 4 August 1859 in Ars, France and was canonised a saint by Pope Pius XI in 1925. He is the patron saint of all priests.
