st1419: What’s all the Hype About? (Samsung Galaxy S4, Edge and iPhone 6 and 6+) [Podcast]
Well Samsung and Apple have done it again. They have announced new hardware and a section of the population is drooling while the another section seems to look on with mild interest or even disinterest. Well technology marches on and today i’d like to look past the hype and go over what was announced and highlight some things that might interest you as a user.

I would also like to welcome our new listeners. We have had incremental but steady growth over the past year and a half in listenership, but something happened in August. Our listenership (measured in downloads and plays) trippled! Most of that, folks, is because of word of mouth- social media - etc, and we appreciate you spreading the news about Smart Tech. On this show we strive to cut through the hype and bring technology to, as the say, the rest of us. This is an exciting time to live in as the things that make our lives more rich and interesting keep being invented. But there is also a downside. On this show, I try to parse those things out for you and help us all to enjoy the good things technology brings to the table of our lives.
So I want to encourage you to do two things:
1. bookmark our website. It is the hub of the smarttech universe and includes our podcast show notes, our blog, and links to other interesting resources.
2. sign up for our mailing list.
I was told by one of our listeners that email lists are old fashioned and not useful. But I’ll tell you, as much as we post on social media, social media sites, facebook and twitter and their like, keep changing the rules and many times when I think I am connecting with you , I am not. Email is still the most direct and targeted method of communication besides a phone call and it allows me to contact you with important information without having to be at the whim of facebook and twitter and google. So go to our website, and in the top right corner you can sign up for our newsletter. I promise, no spam, no selling of email addresses, and you can cancel at any time. We have some exciting announcements coming in the future that I don’t want you to miss!
