What happens when the life you built… no longer feels like it fits?
In this episode, I sit down with Stacy Heisey-Terrell, a Career Ownership Coach who spent nearly 30 years in Human Resources before making a bold and deeply personal pivot — from serving organizations to helping individuals design careers that actually serve them.
And this conversation? It’s for every woman who has ever felt the quiet nudge… the “there has to be more than this” whisper… even when everything looks fine on paper.
Stacy’s corporate journey spanned industries — legal, healthcare, insurance, energy, and local government — and with it came the full spectrum of experiences many women know all too well: unfulfilled promotions, long hours, burnout, and even being the one tasked with delivering layoffs. She calls them the “taps on the shoulder” — those moments life uses to gently (and sometimes not so gently) ask you to pay attention.
For Stacy, those taps eventually became impossible to ignore.
A remote consulting role gave her a glimpse into a different way of living and working — one that felt more flexible, more aligned, and more her. And with the support of her husband (and one very honest question: “Why would you go back to that?”), she began to explore something new.
Not a perfect plan.
Not a guaranteed outcome.
But a possibility.
Today, Stacy helps what she calls “corporate refugees” explore business ownership and redefine success on their own terms — whether that means more time, more freedom, or simply feeling like themselves again in their work.
This episode is full of powerful mindset shifts that will stay with you:
Reframing risk: what if a 30% chance of failure actually means a 70% chance of success?
Asking the better question: How will I feel in 10 years if I don’t do this?
And learning that curiosity — not certainty — is often the first step forward
But beyond the strategy, what I love most about Stacy’s story is this:
She’s not just creating a new career for herself — she’s creating a new legacy. One that her four daughters get to witness in real time. One that shows them that success isn’t linear, and that it’s always okay to choose again.
Because life is wild. Life is messy.
But your work? That gets to evolve with you.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, overlooked, burned out, or quietly ready for something different — this conversation will meet you right where you are.
