Stand Firm For The Case of Christ

Acts 7

In this chapter, we read about Stephen's trial before the Council: the Sanhedrin, Pharisees, Sadducees, and the High Priest. They accused him of speaking blasphemously against God and Moses, an accusation that was 'secretly induced' by some men. These men also said Stephen was going to 'destroy this place,' meaning the temple, and 'alter the customs of Moses, which was also invalid. Stephen defended himself by going down in history and mentioning Abraham to Jesus in all they did.

I believe Stephen's defense was that God is not confined to four walls. He is always everywhere, and indeed, Heaven is His dwelling place. Nothing created by human hands can contain Him; thus, He made everything that we see and use to build on this earth.
In all this, Stephen remained focused on standing firm on his case about Christ and how he was truly the 'Righteous One' sent by God and was indeed "standing at the right hand of God in Heaven. Stephen stood his ground and defended his belief until his last breath.
We should stand firm for Jesus and defend our beliefs at all costs. Life is fleeting, but eternity is eternity, and if we have Jesus, we will live forever.
