Standing for Righteousness – Judges 6 – [REBEL] – Brent Phillips – Encounter Houston

How can we still be the light of the world when darkness seems to be pressing in a little more each day? We are living in a world today where you can stand for anything other than righteousness.

Are you willing to stand for righteousness?

America is in the place that it is in today because we did not stand when we needed to and we remained silent when we should have spoken up.

A belief came into the church that in order to be like Jesus we need to be relevant to the culture but if we were to really take a look at our bibles we would see that Jesus touched a culture without becoming apart of the world.

Jesus took a stand for righteousness and stood out in a culture; yet we have been told that we need to blend in.

For far to long we have just sat around hoping that someone else would take a stand for righteousness and do something about all the darkness that is in the world. When all along that “somebody” to take a stand was us.

Judges 6:1 "The Israelites did evil in the LORD’s sight. So the LORD handed them over to the Midianites for seven years."

We are taught that compromise is a positive thing in order to avoid conflict with our culture.

In order to seem loving to the culture we try compromise our need to take a stand to love yet not be apart of the world. We need to realize that it is the difference that truly sets people free.

Judges 6:14 "Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!"

God didn’t give Gideon the strength to do what he needed to do in that moment? He already had the strength to do it.

God has given you the same strength to stand for righteousness and do whatever it is that He is calling you to do!
