Protests and demonstrations have ignited in major cities all across the United States since the recent death of George Floyd in the hands of law enforcement in Minneapolis. In the past week, we've learned that black people in this country have reached a tipping point—decades of inequality, a failed system that allows terrorism in communities to continue along with blatant disregard to human life and dignity—all on top of COVID-19, which has harmed those living on the margins. We must recognize these deep-seated wounds need healing. We need to rebuild this nation from the ground up.
