Generally speaking, standardized tests are administered in most first-world countries. But the objectives (and outcomes) of these tests vary dramatically across the globe. For the U.S,. standardized testing is a drawn out debate spanning decades. The Center for Global Development has their own case to present on the matter: standardized tests are a brilliant tool when properly implemented. Are we in the U.S. using ours to the best advantage for our students?
