In our youth, we can't wait until we are old enough to do this thing or that. When we get older, we become nostalgic about our youth.  Little do we realize that there is an order to things in this universe.  If we are here, then we reflect the accomplishment of the impossible in many ways.
The question becomes why were we spared?  What is our purpose? 
The simple answer is to continue to deliver the impossible.
