As Jesus continues talking with the disciples in John 14, He tells them that they are going to do greater works than Him in His absence. The goal that Jesus is trying to accomplish here is not make the disciples that they are going to be greater than Jesus. Jesus is saying that it’s the ministry location that is going to be bigger and broader for the disciples than what His was during His earthly ministry. Ministry is only made possible through the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within us. We can now go as messengers because the message now dwells in us. However, when we pray and are a part of the greater work, we must make sure that we are doing it for God’s glory and not our own. We must check the motive behind our prayer. It is His will, not our own. What greater work does Jesus want to do through you? Listen to this sermon about being a part of the greater work in the tenth part of our Start to Finish series.
