Welcome to Start With Seonaidh, the podcast helping you turn your big idea into your reality. We're going to look at the beginnings, the messy middles, and what it takes to create a sustainable mission-led business. Whether you're just starting out or are ready to grow your impact, this podcast is here for you.
In this episode, I'm talking about those slightly strange spells in business where nothing is particularly wrong, there's no big crisis demanding your attention, but you're also not entirely sure what you should be doing next. Your goals feel a bit fuzzy, there are lots of important-but-not-urgent things competing for your attention, and even getting yourself to your desk can start to feel harder than it should.
I'm sharing what I do when I notice myself slipping into that vague, nebulous space, and why my first response isn't to sit down and create a shiny new plan. Instead, we'll look at recognising what's actually going on, choosing one thing that genuinely matters, building a little momentum, walking away for a bit, and then clearing out some of the noise before deciding where to go next. Because sometimes you don't need a complete business overhaul or a brand-new goal.
You might just need to get a little less vague about what your job is again.
If you've been opening your laptop, staring at everything you could do and somehow doing none of it, this episode is for you.
Thank you for joining me for today's episode. I hope you come away feeling a little bit less chaotic and inspired to take the next big step towards your dream. I'm sharing the three things I rely on most: creating space before I need it, making proactive decisions about what needs to move when something unexpected happens, and focusing on returning to baseline rather than catching up.
We'll also look at why I build a 20% buffer into my planning, why I plan around my average capacity rather than my best days, and the relationship between control and trust when life inevitably decides it has other plans.
This isn't about creating the perfect week. For many of us, a "normal week" probably isn't even a particularly realistic goal. It's about building enough room into your business that when the curveballs arrive, they don't automatically mean running yourself into the ground trying to make up for lost time.
If you've had one of those weeks and are staring at everything you didn't get done wondering how on earth you're going to catch up, this episode is for you.

In this episode of Start With Seonaidh, I'm talking about the difference between being "helpful" and actually owning your expertise. We look at why the language we use matters, how small authority markers can completely change the way people perceive and trust us, and why being confident in the results you create doesn't mean losing the very human bits that make people want to work with you.
I also share a recent conversation with my client Danny Prince-Brand, a web developer who knows his stuff but, like many of us, naturally defaults to talking about wanting to help rather than owning the expertise behind that help.
If you're brilliant at what you do but occasionally find yourself making it sound much smaller than it actually is, this one's for you. You can find out more about Danny and his work at Cahill Brand.

What if you don't need to become more consistent, but instead need a business that works with the capacity you actually have?
In this episode of Start With Seonaidh, I'm talking about building and growing a business when your energy, focus or capacity isn't always predictable. I share some of my own experience of recovering from burnout, why repeatedly planning beyond your capacity creates more pressure, and how to start building your plans around what you can realistically do.
We'll look at understanding your patterns, spotting where your plans regularly don't match reality, and creating a more sustainable way of working, because if the plan repeatedly asks more of you than you can give, sometimes the answer is simply to change the plan.

Are you working the way you actually work best, or the way you think you should work? In this episode, I'm exploring how we sometimes create beautiful systems, processes and templates that look great on paper but quietly make our work harder. I'll share a personal example from behind the scenes of the podcast, explain why "proper" isn't always better, and leave you with some questions to help you build ways of working that genuinely fit you and your strengths.

Have you ever changed careers and suddenly felt like all of your confidence disappeared? In this episode, I'm exploring why that happens, why your experience doesn't disappear just because your job title changes, and how recognising your transferable skills can make the next chapter feel much less daunting. Whether you're thinking about leaving a long-term profession, starting a business, or simply questioning what's next, this episode is an invitation to see your experience through a different lens.

In this episode, we explore how your identity shapes the way you show up in your business, from the decisions you make to the opportunities you go after. If you've ever felt stuck even when you know what to do next, or questioned whether you're "the kind of person" who can take the next step, this conversation will help you understand why. We look at how old stories about who you are can quietly hold you back, and how to begin updating your identity in a way that feels grounded, supportive, and aligned with where you're going.

Making decisions in your business would be a lot easier if you always had all the information you needed… but that's not how it works.
Welcome to Start with Seonaidh , the podcast helping you turn your big idea into your reality. Whether you're just starting out or ready to grow your impact, this podcast is here for you.
In this episode, I'm talking about what to do when you need to move forward without having full clarity, and how to balance the pull between overthinking and rushing in.
Because most business decisions aren't clearly reversible or clearly high-risk. They sit somewhere in the middle. A bit fuzzy. A bit uncertain. And that's where things can start to feel stuck.
We explore how to work with your own tolerance for uncertainty, why some decisions feel harder than others, and how to stop yourself getting caught between waiting for "just a bit more information" and pushing ahead in a way that doesn't feel safe.

Do you ever feel constantly busy in your business but like you're not actually getting to the things that matter?
In this episode, I'm breaking down the difference between doing, improving, and something I see all the time… churning. That kind of busy work that feels productive, looks productive, but doesn't actually move your business forward.
We look at why it's so easy to get pulled into tweaking, organising, and "perfecting" things behind the scenes, especially when those tasks feel safer or more satisfying than the work that actually drives income and growth.
I'll walk you through how to spot when you're churning, how to refocus on the work that really matters, and how to create space for more intentional, strategic improvements without getting stuck in a constant loop of tinkering.
If your business feels full but not quite moving, this will help you understand why and what to do instead.

This episode is for the chatty kids, the over-sharers, the ones who were told to quiet down and are now trying to show up online and be seen.
I unpacks how those early messages shape the way we think about marketing, visibility, and being "too much" in business. I share my own stories (including being sent out of brownies for laughing too much…) and explore why putting yourself out there can feel so uncomfortable, even when you know it matters.
