Hi Passionate Youth Reaching Out, today is Thursday June 23. My name is Grant and this is Start Up, helping you start your day with an upward focus. Guess what, if you are a Christian you are part of the greatest promise.
Romans 4:13–17 (HCSB)
13 For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. 14 If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise is canceled. 15 For the law produces wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression. 16 This is why the promise is by faith, so that it may be according to grace, to guarantee it to all the descendants —not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of Abraham’s faith. He is the father of us all 17 in God’s sight.
Abraham had a pretty good promise, that he would inherit the world. That promise is realized through Abraham’s descendant Jesus Christ, who fulfilled God’s law completely, was crucified for the sin of the world, and then rose to life in victory over death and in victory over all. Now Jesus is King over the world, the name of Jesus is above every other name in power and authority. Those who are in Jesus by faith are heirs to that same promise that was given to Abraham. This means that if you have faith in Jesus, this world is yours, its a pretty good promise.
Are we heirs to the promise because of our ability to obey God’s law? Do we gain the promise by doing good works? Of course not, its only through faith in Jesus that we can be a part of his Kingdom, and heirs to his promise. You being a heir to the promise is part of God’s plan to see this world know about his goodness. So live out your life for God’s glory, demonstrating his goodness as you follow his ways and trust his word.
This is where Grace comes in. Grace is a gift from God to do more then you ever could on your own. He makes it possible for you to be saved. He makes it possible for you to obey him. He makes it possible for you to show his power and goodness in this world.
I wonder what God wants to do in you, and through you today?
