StartUp – Tuesday June 21, Romans 4:6-8
Hi Passionate Youth Reaching Out, today is Tuesday June 21. My name is Grant and this is Start Up, helping you start your day with an upward focus. Today’s scripture passage is one that should make you very, very happy.
Romans 4:6–8 (HCSB)
6 Likewise, David also speaks of the blessing of the man God credits righteousness to apart from works: 7 How joyful are those whose lawless acts are forgiven and whose sins are covered! 8 How joyful is the man the Lord will never charge with sin!
Yesterday we talked about God’s credit for righteousness. Its a bill that you or I could never afford, but we can sleep well at night without worry, because Jesus has purchased our righteousness at the cost his life, and he offers it freely to all who will follow him.
Today’s scripture pointed back towards King David, who penned these words about the blessing the comes to the person that is given this free gift of righteousness. First we hear David talking about the joy that comes from knowing that our lawless acts are forgiven and that our sins are covered. God knows everything, and sees everything, he could choose to consider all of the foolish and wrong things that you have done against him. But instead God chose to cover your sins with the sacrifice of his son Jesus, for God so loved the world that he gave his only son. Its all because of God’s love.
David continues, How joyful is the man the Lord will never charge with sin. What a thought, the Lord will never charge you for your sin. No, he wont, as long as your life is in Jesus Christ, that sin is charged against Jesus.
Spend some time smiling today, knowing that God would rather to see you as holy and righteous then as a sinner.
Challenge
The challenge for this week is to pick one of our church missionaries and then pray for them and write them some sort of encouragement email. You can find a list of our missionaries on the church website, www.hawkwood.ca
Invitation
The invitation this week is for all students in Grades 6-12 to come to our School’s Out Sports Party at M cMahon Stadium. We have some special guests coming including Mike Carnegie who is the Captain of the Calgary Roughnecks. We are meeting at McMahon Stadium, please enter at the Pass Gate on the Southwest Corner of the stadium, the cost is $2.
