We kick off the show with Professor Tshepo Madlingozi. He has been writing articles airing his views on the state of the country. Recently at an event attended by academics, one of the things he pointed to is how we need to go back to the role of social movements.
He talks about how these movements like the UDF and other civil society organisations became the voice of the poor and marginalised. We’ve just come out of Freedom Day celebrations and many South Africans feel that there’s not much to celebrate because of the high unemployment rate, loadshedding, state of politics, corruption and so many other factors blinding us from celebrating our freedom. Professor Madlingozi now joins me in studio to share his thoughts on the sentiment of the country….
Guest: Professor Tshepo Madlingozi - Director of the Centre for Applied Legal Studies at WITS
