Amid the uproar over Statistics Canada‘s plan to obtain the sensitive banking data of hundreds of thousands of Canadians without their consent, privacy experts say there is little people can do to verify if their information has been obtained by the national statistical agency. Duff Conacher, Co-founder of Democracy Watch tells us why Canadians should be concerned about the information the government is collecting. We are also joined by Dr. Teresa Scassa, a Canada Research Chair in Information Law and Policy at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, who walks us through the legalities of this data collection.
